About the New York Stem Cell Treatment Center

The California Stem Cell Treatment Center was founded in 2010. Two years later, the Cell Surgical Network was founded, providing a procedure and framework for adult stem cell regenerative medicine across the United States and in areas surrounding New York. The New York Stem Cell Center was born andserves local clients in New York and patients from various cities such as Montreal and Toronto.

As an affiliate of the Cell Surgical Network, David Borenstein, MD and the New York Stem Cell Treatment Center use the sterile closed surgical procedure to process fat, using a mini-liposuction procedure. This allows us to isolate and implant a patient's own source of regenerative stem cells in a same-day, outpatient procedure.

The source of the regenerative cells is what's called stromal vascular fraction (SVF) - which is a protein-rich segment from processed adipose (fat) tissue, usually from belly fat.

Stromal vascular fraction contains what are known as mononuclear cell line (predominantly autologous mesenchymal stem cells), macrophage cells, endothelial cells, red blood cells and important growth factors. Use of the SVF helps facilitate the stem cell process and promote their activity.

Our technology allows us to isolate high numbers of viable cells that we can use during the treatment process. While we are vigilant about patient safety, we are also learning about which diseases respond best and which deployment methods are most effective.

As an affiliate of the Cell Surgical Network, we also contribute valuable data to research efforts on adult stem cell regenerative medicine, and share best practices information with other affiliates, helping to ensure higher levels of understanding and care.

Dr. David Borenstein, MD

Dr. David Borenstein obtained his medical degree from the Technion Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel and completed his internship at Staten Island University Hospital. He has completed residencies at: University Hospital at Stony Brook; Westchester County Medical Center; and St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center.

During the course of his career he has attended numerous specialized training courses in order to expand the scope of his medical expertise. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, certified in Medical Acupuncture, and is a member of numerous professional societies.

Dr. Borenstein has held many prestigious clinical appointments and positions in leading medical facilities. He has been published in the European Journal of Ultrasound and has been the Chief Investigator on a research project on Spinal Cord Injuries. He has conducted medical missions in North Korea, Ghana, Cuba, and other countries.

After his residency, Dr. Borenstein was involved with an integrative medical center and became impressed by the effectiveness of the treatments that were offered there. The experience led him to incorporate integrative approaches - including prolotherapy and stem cell therapy - into his medical practice. Getting to know his patients, listening to them, and understanding the symptoms are the starting points for his treatment protocols that have lead to his ability to help people from cities around the world, such as New York, Montreal and Toronto.

Dr. Borenstein’s areas of specialization do not exist in isolation - patients are diagnosed and treated in an integrative manner to promote both the overall recovery and continuing good health. In his own words his “greatest feeling of accomplishment comes from helping make real changes in people’s lives, especially after they’ve been through a difficult time.”
